National Repentance Day (Papua New Guinea)

National Repentance Day is a public holiday in Papua New Guinea, celebrated on August 26th every year. The holiday was established in 2011 by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, and is intended to be a day of Christian prayer and repentance. The day is marked by prayer ceremonies across the country, and is observed by both Catholics and Protestants. The purpose of the holiday is for people to come together and pray, asking for forgiveness and seeking to renew their relationship with God. It is a time for reflection and introspection, and an opportunity to strengthen one’s faith and commitment to living a virtuous life.
