16 September
Malaysia Day is observed on 16 September to commemorate the formation of Malaysia in 1963, when Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore joined to form the federation. Although Singapore later became independent, the day remains an important national observance. It highlights unity, shared history, cultural diversity and the relationship between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
Event Suggestions:
• Creating a display about Malaysia Day, national symbols and the formation of Malaysia
• Sharing Malaysian music, food, stories or language activities from different regions
• Hosting a discussion on unity, diversity and the histories of Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia
