World Wetlands Day

World Wetlands Day raises awareness of wetlands and their essential role in supporting biodiversity, water quality, climate resilience, and healthy ecosystems. Wetlands provide habitat for many species, help reduce flooding, store carbon, and support livelihoods and cultural connections. The day encourages education and action to protect wetlands from degradation and loss.

Event Suggestions:
• Create a display showing how wetlands support biodiversity, water, and climate resilience
• Map local or global wetland ecosystems and the species that depend on them
• Discuss practical actions that help protect wetlands and reduce environmental damage
