World Drowning Prevention Day raises awareness of drowning as a preventable cause of injury and death worldwide. The day promotes water safety, supervision, swimming skills, rescue knowledge and safer environments around rivers, beaches, pools and waterways. It encourages communities to take practical action to protect children and adults in and around water.
Event Suggestions:
• Run a water safety awareness activity or poster session
• Invite a lifesaver or swim instructor to share practical safety tips
• Discuss safe behaviour around pools, beaches, rivers and boats
