03 June
Western Australia Day is celebrated on the first Monday in June and recognises the history, people and cultures of Western Australia. Formerly known as Foundation Day, it originally marked the establishment of the Swan River Colony in 1829. Today, the day has a broader focus, acknowledging Aboriginal histories, multicultural communities and the many stories that shape Western Australia’s identity.
Event Suggestions:
• Create a map display of Western Australia’s regions and cultures
• Explore Aboriginal histories and contemporary community stories
• Share music, food or artwork connected to Western Australia
