Virgin of Los Angeles Day

Virgin of Los Angeles Day is observed in Costa Rica on 2 August in honour of the Virgen de los Ángeles, the country’s patron saint. Many pilgrims travel to the Basilica in Cartago for prayer and devotion. The day reflects Costa Rican faith, cultural identity and the importance of pilgrimage in community life.

Event Suggestions:
• Learning about the pilgrimage to Cartago and its cultural significance
• Listening to devotional music or stories connected to Costa Rican faith traditions
• Creating a respectful display about the Virgen de los Ángeles and community devotion
