UN Arabic Language Day

UN Arabic Language Day celebrates Arabic as one of the six official languages of the United Nations and recognises its deep cultural, literary, and historical significance. Arabic has shaped poetry, philosophy, science, art, and everyday communication across many regions and communities. The day encourages appreciation of linguistic diversity and the role language plays in connecting people, preserving knowledge, and expressing identity.

Event Suggestions:

• Explore Arabic words, scripts, and regional dialects through a classroom display
• Share music, literature, or art that highlights the cultural richness of Arabic-speaking communities
