16 February

Renri

Renri is observed on the seventh day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar and is often known as the “birthday of humankind.” In Chinese mythology, the goddess Nüwa is associated with the creation of humans after the creation of other living creatures. The day is connected with Lunar New Year celebrations and may be marked through family gatherings, symbolic foods, good wishes, and reflections on human connection and renewal.

Event Suggestions:
• Explore the story of Nüwa and the meaning of Renri in Chinese mythology
• Create a display about Lunar New Year customs, symbolic foods, and family traditions
• Discuss ideas of renewal, community, and human connection in seasonal celebrations
