19 August
Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu and South Asian festival celebrating bonds of care and protection, especially between siblings. A sister traditionally ties a rakhi, or decorative thread, on her brother’s wrist, while families exchange blessings, sweets and gifts. The festival is also celebrated more broadly as a reminder of affection, responsibility and family connection.
Event Suggestions:
• Making rakhis while learning about their symbolism and cultural meaning
• Sharing stories, songs or sweets connected to Raksha Bandhan
• Hosting a discussion about care, responsibility and family relationships
