27 May

National Reconciliation Week begins (Australia)

National Reconciliation Week in Australia begins on 27 May, the anniversary of the 1967 referendum, and continues to 3 June, the anniversary of the Mabo decision. The week encourages all Australians to learn about shared histories, cultures and achievements and to take action toward reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Event Suggestions:
• Learn about the 1967 referendum and the Mabo decision
• Use First Nations-led resources to discuss reconciliation and truth-telling
• Create a reflection wall focused on respect, action and shared responsibility
