National Indigenous Peoples Day (Canada)

National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada celebrates the cultures, histories and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. Established in response to calls from Indigenous communities, the day is marked through ceremonies, cultural events, storytelling, music and community gatherings. It also encourages reflection on reconciliation, respect for Indigenous knowledge and the ongoing importance of Indigenous rights and self-determination.

Event Suggestions:
• Share Indigenous-led resources from First Nations, Inuit or Métis communities
• Create a map or display recognising Indigenous languages and territories
• Discuss reconciliation, cultural respect and community learning
