The National Heroes’ Day of Bahamas is a public holiday celebrated on the second Monday in October. This day honors the people who have contributed to the Bahamas becoming a free and independent state. It is a day to celebrate the cultural heritage of the Bahamas and to remember the heroes who have made significant contributions to the country’s history. The holiday replaced Discovery Day, which celebrated the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Americas.
