Kathina

Kathina is a Theravada Buddhist festival held after Vassa, the annual rainy-season retreat for monks. During this period, lay communities bring offerings to temples, often including new robes and other requisites, as an expression of gratitude, generosity, and support for the monastic community.

Event Suggestions:
• Learn about Vassa, robe offerings, and generosity in Buddhist communities
• Create a respectful display about Kathina and temple traditions
• Discuss how giving and gratitude are expressed in different faiths
