Karva Chauth is a one-day Hindu festival observed by many married women, especially in northern and western India. Participants traditionally fast from sunrise until moonrise and offer prayers for the wellbeing and longevity of their husbands. The day is also marked by dressing in festive clothing, applying mehndi, exchanging gifts, and gathering with family and community.
