Janmashtami is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, who is revered as the eighth avatar of Vishnu. Devotees may fast, pray, sing devotional songs, perform dance dramas about Krishna’s life and gather at midnight, the traditional time of his birth. In some regions, celebrations also include decorated temples, sweets and community festivals.
Event Suggestions:
• Learning about Krishna stories through music, dance or storytelling
• Exploring devotional songs, temple decorations and Janmashtami rituals with respect
• Creating art or food activities inspired by Krishna traditions and festival colours
