The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade honours those who suffered and died as a result of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade. The day encourages remembrance, education and reflection on the lasting impacts of slavery, racism and resistance, while affirming the dignity of victims and their descendants.
