Indigenous Peoples’ Day in USA is celebrated on second Monday of October. The day honors the Native-American Indians, Native Alaskans and Native Hawaiians, celebrating their diversity and contribution to American culture and history.
In 1990, South Dakota was the first state to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebrations, but today many states and cities have begun to observe Indigenous Peoples’ Day either in place of or in addition to Columbus Day. In 2021 Joe Biden became the first U.S. president to officially recognize the holiday.
