10 October
Huduma Day is a cultural holiday celebrated in Kenya on October 10th every year. Formerly known as Moi Day, it was renamed to Huduma Day in 2019 to celebrate the country’s public service. The day is marked by countrywide prayers and community service to showcase Kenyans’ commitment to helping one another. It is a day to celebrate the country’s cultural heritage and promote unity and patriotism among its citizens. Schools and most businesses are closed, and it is a day off for the general population.
Event Suggestions:
• Organise a community service activity inspired by Huduma Day
• Create a display about public service, unity, and Kenyan civic life
• Discuss how service can strengthen care and responsibility in communities
