German-American Day

German-American Day falls on October 6th. Estabilishing Germantown in Pennsylvania in the 17th century, German immigrants and their descendants have had a massive impact on American culture and history. German-Americans have played a significant role in inventing and influencing some of the most iconic American products and institutions. The day thus honors the anniversary of the first German immigrants arriving in America and appreciating the cross-cultural appreciations.

Event suggestions:
• Listening to songs and stories tied to public remembrance
• Mapping German-American history through artefacts, timelines, and dialogue
• Exploring historical milestones through guided community memory circles
