D-Day (World War II)

D-Day commemorates the Allied landings in Normandy on 6 June 1944, one of the major turning points of World War II. The operation involved forces from many nations and opened a western front that contributed to the liberation of occupied Europe. The day is observed through remembrance of those who served, those who died and the civilian communities affected by war.

Event Suggestions:
• Creating a remembrance display with maps, photographs and personal histories
• Holding a reflective discussion on wartime cooperation, sacrifice and liberation
• Sharing stories from different Allied nations to show the international scale of D-Day
