Cook Islands Constitution Day

Cook Islands Constitution Day is celebrated on 4 August to mark the Cook Islands becoming self-governing in free association with New Zealand. It is closely linked with Te Maeva Nui, a national celebration of Cook Islands culture, history and identity featuring music, dance, parades, performances and community gatherings.

Event Suggestions:
• Exploring Cook Islands self-government through timelines, maps and discussion
• Sharing Cook Islands music, dance, food or storytelling with cultural context
