23 October
Occuring on October 23rd between 6:02 am and 6:02 pm, Mole Day was created as a way to foster interest in chemistry. The specific time and date commemorate the Avogadro constant, which is approximately 6.02×1023, defining the number of particles (atoms or molecules) in one mole (mol) of substance.
Schools, chemists and sicentists throughout the United States and around the world celebrate this unofficial holiday with various activities related to chemistry and/or moles.
Event suggestions:
• Connecting Mole themes through workshops, demos, and discussion
• Exploring big ideas through interactive learning and storytelling stations
• Creating hands-on displays inspired by discovery and innovation
