Union Day (Myanmar)

Union Day in Myanmar commemorates the signing of the Panglong Agreement in 1947, an agreement between leaders from the central government and several ethnic groups that set out principles for a future union. The day is a national public holiday and is connected with themes of unity, diversity, political history, and national identity. It may be marked through speeches, cultural performances, parades, and public reflection.

Event Suggestions:
• Create a timeline about the Panglong Agreement and Myanmar’s modern history
• Explore Myanmar’s cultural diversity through language, music, geography, or textiles
• Discuss unity, diversity, and the challenges of building shared national identity
