14 February
Also called ‘Sweethearts Day’, Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Day raises awareness and education about congenital heart defects. It also seeks to honour and remember everyone born with a congenital heart defect, and all the families touched by children with heart defects. CHD affects 8 babies born in Australia every day, and kills 4 children per week. It is the leading cause of infant death in Australia. It is a complex condition with no known cure, and treatments can be costly and traumatic.
