International Day of Forests

Established by the UN in 2013, the International Day of Forests raises awareness of the importance of forests and trees for current and future generations. The day encourages communities to protect forests, plant trees, support biodiversity and recognise the role of forests in climate, food systems, culture and wellbeing.

Event Suggestions:
• Plant trees or create a local forest and biodiversity awareness display
• Discuss how forests support climate, water, wildlife and communities
• Research forest traditions, foods or medicines from different cultures
