25 March
The International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members recognises United Nations personnel and humanitarian workers who have been detained, abducted, injured or killed while serving communities. The day is linked to the abduction of Alec Collett in 1985 and calls for the safety, rights and protection of those working in international service.
Event Suggestions:
• Learn about the work of humanitarian and UN staff in crisis settings
• Discuss why protection and neutrality matter in humanitarian work
• Create a reflection activity honouring service, safety and solidarity
