23 January
Tu BiShvat, the “Jewish New Year of the Trees,” is celebrated on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Shvat. Originally an agricultural festival marking the arrival of spring, it has become a celebration of nature, renewal and environmental stewardship. Many Jewish communities observe the day with a Tu BiShvat seder, tree planting, and activities that honour the connection between people, the land and creation.
Event Suggestions:
• Learning about the traditions and symbolism of Tu BiShvat through respectful storytelling and discussion
• Preparing and sharing symbolic foods traditionally associated with the Tu BiShvat seder
• Planting trees or taking part in environmental activities that celebrate renewal and care for the natural world
