Movember begins

Movember is an annual event in November that was started in Australia in 2003 by a group of friends and is now a global phenomenon.

The focus of Movember is on raising awareness and funds for men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. Male participants, known as ‘Mo Bros’, register on the Movember website. They begin the month of November clean-shaven and grow moustaches during the month to spark conversations and raise funds for relevant health organisations. Female participants, known as ‘Mo Sisters’, can also register and participate.

Movember offers a range of creative, fun and engaging ways beyond the mo to promote men’s health issues, encourage conversations, and support research and programs that improve the wellbeing of men worldwide.

Event suggestions:
• Mapping Movember history through artefacts, timelines, and dialogue
• Exploring historical milestones through guided community memory circles
• Creating heritage displays honouring civic resilience and identity
