Forgiveness Sunday (Cheesefare Sunday)

Forgiveness Sunday, also called Cheesefare Sunday, is the final Sunday before Great Lent in Eastern Orthodox Christianity. It centres on asking and granting forgiveness as believers prepare for fasting, prayer and spiritual renewal. Many communities observe the day with Vespers services, mutual forgiveness and the final sharing of dairy foods before Lent.

Event suggestions:
• Listening to devotional music with guided cultural context
• Creating reflective crafts inspired by ceremonial symbols and stories
• Learning ritual meanings through respectful faith storytelling circles
