Clean Monday

Clean Monday marks the beginning of Great Lent in Eastern Orthodox Christianity. It is associated with fasting, prayer, outdoor gatherings and a fresh start toward spiritual reflection before Easter. Common traditions include eating Lenten foods, flying kites and spending time outdoors with family and community.

Event suggestions:

• Flying handmade kites in a community park with Orthodox music
• Walking a reflective nature trail with prayers and seasonal bread tasting
