01 September
Dystonia Awareness Month begins in September in Australia and helps raise understanding of dystonia, a neurological movement disorder that causes involuntary muscle contractions, twisting movements, tremors or unusual postures. The month encourages awareness, education, support for people living with dystonia and recognition of the families, carers and health professionals involved in care.
Event Suggestions:
• Creating an awareness display about dystonia, symptoms and support services
• Sharing lived experiences or educational resources with respectful context
• Hosting a fundraiser or community activity supporting dystonia research and care
