15 September

National Hispanic Heritage Month begins

National Hispanic Heritage Month begins in the United States on 15 September and continues until 15 October. It honours the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. The start date connects with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries and the month is often marked through art, music, literature, food, education and community events.

Event Suggestions:
• Creating a display celebrating Hispanic and Latino histories, cultures and contributions
• Sharing music, art, literature, food or stories from Hispanic and Latino communities
• Exploring the connection between the month’s dates and Latin American independence days
