01 February
World Hijab Day was founded in 2013 by Nazma Khan to recognise Muslim women who choose to wear the hijab and to encourage understanding of its meaning. The day promotes religious tolerance, women’s agency, respectful dialogue, and the reduction of stereotypes and discrimination. It invites people to learn about the hijab in the context of faith, identity, modesty, culture, and personal choice.
Event Suggestions:
• Host a respectful discussion about the hijab, identity, faith, and personal choice
• Create a resource display about Muslim women’s voices, experiences, and representation
• Discuss how communities can challenge stereotypes and support religious inclusion
