13 February
This day marks the anniversary of the 2008 National Apology to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, especially members of the Stolen Generations affected by policies of forced child removal and assimilation. The day is a time for truth-telling, remembrance, respect, and reflection on the ongoing impacts of these policies. It also recognises the resilience, strength, and contributions of Stolen Generations survivors, families, and communities.
Event Suggestions:
• Centre First Nations voices through respectful resources, stories, or guest speakers
• Create a reflection activity about truth-telling, healing, and the Stolen Generations
• Discuss the National Apology, intergenerational impact, and responsibilities for reconciliation
