13 February
World Radio Day is a UNESCO observance that celebrates radio as a widely accessible medium for information, education, culture, music, emergency communication, and public dialogue. Radio can connect communities across distance and language, including in places where other media are less available. The day recognises radio’s diversity, trust, local relevance, and continuing role in shaping shared knowledge and community life.
Event Suggestions:
• Create a short radio-style segment, interview, or audio story with students or community members
• Explore how radio supports news, culture, emergency communication, and local languages
• Compare radio traditions, music programs, and community broadcasting around the world
