Nirvana Day

Nirvana Day, also known as Parinirvana Day, is observed in many Mahayana Buddhist communities to commemorate the Buddha’s passing into final nirvana. The day is often marked through meditation, temple visits, chanting, reflection, and readings about the Buddha’s final teachings. It encourages contemplation of impermanence, compassion, wisdom, and the nature of life and death.

Event Suggestions:
• Learn about Parinirvana and the Buddhist teaching of impermanence
• Create a quiet reflection or meditation activity focused on compassion and wisdom
• Explore Buddhist art, temple customs, or readings connected to the Buddha’s final days
