Jum il-Helsien, or Freedom Day, is a national public holiday in Malta marking the withdrawal of British military forces from Malta in 1979. The day recognises Malta’s sovereignty, civic identity and the country’s journey following independence, and is often observed through ceremonies and public remembrance.
