Refugee Week begins (Australia)

Refugee Week is an Australian national awareness event established by Austcare and the Refugee Council of Australia in 1988. It aims to create a culture of welcome, improve understanding between communities and recognise the experiences, strengths and contributions of refugees. The first World Refugee Day established by the UN grew out of this event.

Event Suggestions:
• Share refugee stories through respectful, consent-based resources
• Host a welcome activity celebrating cultural diversity
• Create a display on belonging, safety and community support
