Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent Day)

Khao Phansa, also known as Buddhist Lent Day, marks the beginning of the three-month rains retreat in Theravada Buddhist traditions. During this period, monks traditionally remain in one monastery for study, meditation and community support. In countries such as Thailand and Laos, the day may be observed with temple visits, candle offerings, merit-making and reflection.

Event Suggestions:
• Make or display candles inspired by Khao Phansa traditions
• Learn about the Buddhist rains retreat and monastic life
• Create a respectful reflection activity on mindfulness and generosity
